According to Apple, ProRes is intended as the final delivery format for high-quality videos including broadcasts, features, and commercials. ProRes, a series of Apple codecs that can compress videos into smaller file sizes with “amazing image quality preservation,” was first introduced on the iPhone 13 Pro models. According to Apple, a one-minute 10-bit ProRes video is roughly 1.7GB in 1080p and 6GB in 4K. The fact that 4K ProRes video recording is not supported on 128GB versions is probably because of how big the files for 4K recordings are. ProRes video recording in the Camera app is supported on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max at 1080p 30 frames per second with the 128GB storage option and up to 4K 30 frames per second with the 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. WiFi Radar ProĪpple’s press statement announcing the iPhone 14 Pro versions includes the following footnote: A model with a storage capacity of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB is necessary to record ProRes video in 4K at 30 frames per second.
